Summer term sessions run on Fridays from 10.00 -11.30.

Summer sessions run at both 10.00-11.30 and 13.00-14.30

Clothing

Little ones will likely get wet and muddy so please dress them appropriately in old clothes and wellies. Long sleeves and trousers help prevent cuts and grazes. Bring a change of clothes for after the session. Or just put them in waterproofs if you feel it’s easier to keep them clean and dry. Bear in mind, It is always much cooler in the shaded woodland. Forest school runs in all weathers so please come prepared. Some adults like to wear trousers or bring a mat as they find they are sat on the floor playing with their children.

What to expect

Sessions are informal, there will be a number of bases with open ended learning opportunities, exploring the woodland, den building, and a taught craft or guided activity. Towards the end of the session the fire will be lit with opportunity to toast marshmallows or something similar. Please feel free to explore the rest of the site with your child/children.

Hazards

Please make sure you supervise your children at all times especially tree climbing, den building, in hammocks and around the fire. There are naturally occurring hazards in the less managed areas of the trees such as hawthorn, thistles, wild roses, berries and nettles. Please encourage little ones not to pick plants they are unfamiliar with and not to put anything in their mouths.

Toilets

The closest toilets are at the rangers hut and cafe at Rushcliffe Country Park. Please feel free to bring a travel potty to use on site.

Babies

Under 1s are free when accompanying a paying sibling. Baby carriers advised for the session rather than prams.

Location

Little White Cloud Forest School is currently located at the ‘Tree and insect trail’ within Rushcliffe Country Park. It is on the opposite side of the lake to the carpark and is sign posted. See map and images below. It’s a short 5 minute walk from the carpark but prams definitely advised for little ones. However, once in the woodland best to park up the pram and use a carrier if you’re bringing along babies.
